Cycling Fans- This weekend is the 30th annual Athens Twilight. Those of you who have no clue what that is are missing out. It is the greatest criterium race in the US, according to me of course. The multiple events happen this weekend April 24th-26th. The Men’s Pro Criterium starts at 8:45pm. This night race is loads of fun centered in the heart of Downtown Athens. 2nd largest event in Athens after Georgia Football. So many people crowd the sidewalks and streets to watch racers come with in an inch of the rails as flying through the corners. This is an addictive race. I have been attending and photographing the race for the past 7? years. I look forward to it EVERY YEAR! Check out some of the photos from last years event HERE.
There are events all Friday and Saturday throughout the day. Friends of mine and I will run the 5k event at 8:30 then get our bikes out and hit the 50k gambler ride. Afterward, we will visit Jittery Joes for the final part to our “Twiathlon“. Saturday Night I will be shooting the events and finding my favorite position on turn 1 inside corner looking at the Georgia Theatre.
Saturday there are amateur races all day long, leading up to the main events…
