Moab, UT

So why is this post even here, it’s basically a recap of my trip that was posted on instagram. What does this Adventure or any “adventure” have to do with my photography business or retail design. Well… it doesn’t, but it also does. My adventures let my clients know what I am up to, what inspires me and moves me. For my cycling retail clients it gives us connections talking about great trips we have been on or must do rides if ever visiting. For photography clients it shows that I am outside getting stuff done.  Living in the moment. So yeah I am going to include a few adventures on this page. So you know who I am and why I shoot what I do or what inspires me.

Which brings me to my most recent trip to Moab, Utah. I have actually never been. I had thought I had been close but really I was just on the highway once and drove past a sign that said Moab, this way. Now living the farthest west ever in my life, Breckenridge, I can jump to new adventures in Utah and beyond. Just jump into my not always reliable van @richmondthevan and take a trip. That is exactly what I did last week. Ski season is starting which makes me very excited because I am starting something new this year, more to come later on that. I wanted to get a few more rides with my trusty Trek Top Fuel and enjoy some warmer nature time.

Thursday I made the drive to Moab from Breck. It was a beautiful drive and so glad I did it in the daytime vs leaving the night before which I had previously planned. Once arriving I met up with a friend and caught up on local hotspots. She was also staying in Moab in her van and funny we had never met in person before. Staci was a member of Angry Monkeys Racing a few years ago which is how we knew each other. Thursday afternoon I went to ride HyMasa to Upper Captian Ahab. It was a great intro to Moab riding. I met up with a family from Denver on the way down which allowed me to relax and enjoy the ride a bit more. Ended the evening catching up with Staci again and staying in the van like usual.

Friday – Got up and road Barts of the Bar M trails and the North 40. Just a quick ride and to get the body moving. Then decided to hit up Arches National Park. So amazing. Do it. See my other post on Arches. I broke out the big camera for that. Spent the entire day there and ended the night back parked next to Staci one more time before saying goodbye.

Saturday- Was the best. I woke up and headed out to Poison Spider to meet Eric, who I used to work with at Trek and his wife Ashley. They picked up some bikes and we went and met our shuttle to ride to the Whole Enchilada Trail. Due to weather we ended up getting dropped off at the start of UPS trail. The winds and oncoming storm told us to keep it quick on the pace. There was one exposed section where the gusts had to be 50+ and all three of us crashed at least once because of wind. Still time of a life time. I had a blast riding this trail. The view were amazing. It will be on my list as a must do every time I go from now on. At the end of the day the three of us hit up a Shake Shack for dinner and finished up stories and catching up on old times. Then I made my way back to Breck that evening. Winds were really bad, white knuckles on the wheel until Grand Junction. Then hit Vail pass in the snow storm where you cannot see the road and it looks like Starwars hyper drive flying.

Made it home safely, with the love of the van, love of the bikes, love of taking photographs of landscapes, and love of meeting new friends and visiting old ones. Good adventure. Up next ski season.
