I feel as though this is the time for anything but photography. I have been so “busy” the past few weeks that I honestly have not devoted anytime to my photographic arts. I teach full time, therefore most of my energy goes into work, teaching, grading, and trying to come up with new ways to teach the same ideas. I am looking forward to the day where I can take a moment away from my teaching to just shoot. As some of you know, my goal would be to teach Photography at a small college or university. Right now though, BDAndrews really has not been working on many projects. Cycling Races are out right now, and until I start picking those back up I will just continue on this break. It is nice to have a break though, even though I am busy with other items.
I have realized I need to set goals while I am not too busy with Photography work. 1. Research- Every photographer needs to keep up to date with trends, tech, and look back at what historically photography has done. This gives me time to test out some techniques I have been dying to try. There are so many ways to learn more about the art of photography, and honestly I feel as though every photographer needs to spend time doing this. 2. Personal Projects- Its been a buzz word the past few weeks with photographers I know, and it is true. Find something non business related to just start a project on. Shoot every car you see, montage of cars. (or bikes). Find a unique hobby to do a photo-story of. Experiment with new lighting or shooting techniques. Build a pinhole camera. I am not sure what I want to start on but I will work on some ideas. It would be interesting to set up a photo-booth in a populated area and shoot head shots of people all day for a day, just to see what you get.
The final thought for the day is to not stop shooting. I am telling myself this, I need to get out with the camera and create some new fresh work. Let me know if you have any ideas.
